Workshops

Colin George is an experienced theatre director as well as actor. Using students to read the text themselves, he is used to demonstrating from the script how Shakespeare involved his audience, "created" his scenery and lighting effects with words, and drew such convincing characters. His comment is based on a knowledge of Elizabethan theatre practice.

Lectures

Colin George is an M.A. in English Language and Literature form Oxford University. His particular interests and study are the Greek Theatre, the Elizabethan Theatre, and the Repertory Theatre movement in England in the post 1945 period. His one man show "An actor and his passion" draws on his 45 years experience as a professional actor and director. It is very suitable for adult audiences as well as students, either for late night or lunch time shows, or after dinner events.

Curriculum exercises

With advance notice of texts and areas of dramatic study, Colin George, who spent eleven years as Head of Acting in the Hong Kong Academy, can offer students the opportunity to explore their curriculum studies in active participatory games and exercises.

Questions answered on set texts

Given Colin George’s experience, not only as an Oxford graduate, but as a theatre director, and actor -having performed with companies of the standing of the Royal Shakespeare Company, qualifies him to offer his own insights into literary and dramatic works.

Readings with student actors

Rehearsed readings with students can be a very beneficial way of opening up a text set for academic analysis. As a classical actor, himself, with RSC training, his use of text often leads to illuminating discussion.

The speaking of verse

As a voice teacher, as well as a professional classical actor, he is well qualified to lecture or work with students on this subject relating it particularly to Shakespeare.
